When your brain feels overloaded…
It’s not because you’re lazy.
It’s not because you “can’t handle it.”
Sometimes your brain protects you by shutting down.
That can look like:
• Avoiding homework
• Scrolling instead of starting
• Getting irritated easily
• Wanting to cancel plans
• Saying “I don’t care” when you actually do
Instead of judging yourself, try asking:
What feels heavy right now?
Is it the math test?
Is it drama with a friend?
Is it college pressure?
Is it stuff happening at home?
What’s one tiny step I can take?
School examples:
• Open the assignment (don’t finish it — just open it).
• Do 3 problems.
• Write one paragraph.
• Email the teacher.
• Put tomorrow’s books in your bag.
Life examples:
• Send one text to clear the air.
• Take a 5-minute walk.
• Drink water.
• Clean one corner of your room.
• Take one deep breath before reacting.
You don’t need to fix your whole life tonight.
You don’t need to catch up on everything at once.
You just need the next small thing.
Small steps calm big overwhelm.
