THERE IS GOOD IN EVERYDAY

June 22, 2023 by Keith Senzer

I love this quote!

Teens have so much pressure and are navigating various aspects of life that at times can be frustrating and challenging. It can cause stress, anxiety and sometimes leads to a negative sense of self.

When things don’t work out how they had hoped, it often triggers these feelings of stress, anxiety and negative self worth.

However, it’s crucial to teach them to recognize that within each day, there can be moments of positivity, growth, and resilience that contribute to their overall well-being.

Here are a few ways this concept can be beneficial and support Teen Mental Health:

Seeking gratitude: Encouraging teens to actively look for the positive aspects in their lives, even during challenging times, can foster a sense of gratitude and resilience. By focusing on the good, they may be able to cultivate a more positive mindset and reduce feelings of hopelessness or despair.

Emphasizing progress: Progress doesn’t always occur in huge leaps but rather in small steps forward. Recognizing and celebrating small victories and achievements can help teens build confidence and self-esteem. It reminds them that even amidst difficult days, they are capable of growth and improvement.

Cultivating self-care: Promoting self-care practices is vital for teen mental health. Encouraging teens to engage in activities they enjoy, such as hobbies, sports, or spending time with loved ones, can create moments of joy and relief from stress. These positive experiences contribute to their overall well-being, even when other aspects of life may be challenging.

Encouraging support networks: It’s important for teens to know that they don’t have to face their challenges alone. Encourage them to reach out to trusted friends, family members, or mental health professionals for support. Having a support network can provide a sense of comfort and reassurance, even on difficult days.

Fostering resilience: Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity. By recognizing that there is something good in every day, teens can learn to adapt and find ways to cope with challenges. It helps them develop a positive mindset and the ability to navigate through difficult situations with greater strength and determination.

When teens can take the time to celebrate their small wins and practice gratitude, while also using failures as lessons for growth and resilience, they will build confidence and grit and learn to manage those triggers in a healthy way.
